THE EGG OUT OF THE BASKET - Emotional dynamics with the disabled and
their families
RIGHTS AVAILABLE
The publication Despite the enormous amount of literature on the subject, few texts are
dedicated to a theme as delicate and as current as the construction of
the identity of the disabled person within the family and the emotional
and psychological dynamics which are created within a family living with
a disabled person. "The underlying theme of all the sections is a pair of opposites, a dramatic dilemma which involves parents, professionals and all those concerned with the disabled: how can we conciliate deeply contrasting feelings every time we deal with a disabled person? On the one hand is the feeling of powerlessness, on the other, the desire to find a "remedy"; again on the one hand, the wish to be helpful, on the other, the burden of having to be there."
The author Elio Tesio is a contract professor of the Theories and techniques of the psychological interview at the University of Turin. He is a psychologist and psychotherapist, and co-ordinates the AREA mediatheque. He edited UTET Librerias Testi, contesti, pretesti (1995) with Clara Capello and Paola DAmbrosio. |
