Twelve different types of coverings are examined: cane, wood, slate, tiles, stone, concrete, fibrocement, bitumen, glass, metals, synthetic materials, roof gardens. After a discussion of the materials, the laying techniques are described, followed by numerous examples of typical cases illustrated with precise details in scale-drawings, and examples of actual constructions.
Ample space is dedicated to the physical and technical aspects from an "ecological" point of view, paying particular attention to environmental well-being and energy saving. Damp protection and fire-safety, as well as thermal and acoustic insulation are also fully described.
