The authors
Father Agostino Selva and Father Tito S. Centi of the Dominican
order are members of the Ateneo Domenicano of Bologna and responsible
for the publication in Italian of all the works of Saint Thomas
Aquinas. Father Centi has already edited the Somma contro i Gentili
for the Classici delle religioni series.
The publication
The volume includes the Compendio di teologia and three apologies
on religious life: Contro gli avversari del culto di Dio e della
vita religiosa, La perfezione della vita spirituale e Contro la
dottrina di quanti distolgono dalla vita religiosa. The Compendium
Theologiae is the summary of the Catholic faith written by Saint
Thomas Aquinas with the intention of making all the fundamentals
of Christian faith, hope and charity accessible. The text, which
constitutes an important stage in the history of catechesis, is
a marvellous example of how Thomas combined faith and reason.
