The publication
This volume contains some of Euripides' tragedies which won most
acclaim in ancient times, and have profoundly influenced the theatre
in modern times.
This edition is attentive to Euripides' dramaturgical values and
is based upon an accurate philological analysis. In many parts,
it represents a new text. The translation aims to achieve a theatrical
rendering, highlighting the value of dramatisation. The comment
pays particular attention to the ancient stage representation.
The author
Olimpio Musso is associate professor of classical philology and
ancient drama at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University
of Florence.
