THE ATLAS OF ARCHAEOLOGY
(Atlante di Archeologia)
This publication offers a complete and up-to-date survey of archaeological
research in the five continents.
The first section contains an introductory text and 101 maps showing
the distribution of the principal archaeological sites. The maps
are all original and have been specially prepared on the basis of
the most recent data.
The second section is composed of 144 topographic descriptions of
localities or archaeological monuments of particular interest. The
general text for each place is accompanied by photographs and plans
showing the archaeological evidence that has emerged from each site.
A final appendix presents an up-dated bibliography edited by the
authors of the texts. These include 70 top specialists from Italy
and abroad who are whole-heartedley committed to those activities,
methods, and schools of thought that breathe life into modern archaeological
research.
