The Atlante della Terra is dedicated to exploring our planet, presented as an extremely complex organism, and sets out in a clear, up-to-date, and fascinating way the unifying concepts that help us to understand such complexity. The reader it begins with the formation of the Earth, followed by an analysis of its internal structure – solid and liquid cores, mantle, lithosphere – and the morphology of its outer layers. Then there is a description of the surface activity caused by the powerful forces underneath, a description and an account of the biosphere or the thin but fundamentally important "layer" that is home to life.
The text is accompanied by hundreds of splendid photographs and drawings, as well as numerous maps, which provide invaluable insights into the phenomena described.
