THE ATLAS OF RELIGIONS
(Atlante delle Religioni)
The aim of this volume is to examine varieties of religious expression
from the point of view of a comparative anthropologist of religion.
This means trying to understand the spirit behind each single religion
by observing and comparing particular aspects (rituals, beliefs,
modes of expression), rather than expressing judgement on all religions,
or on "religion" in general.
This attitude has determined the structure of the Atlante delle
Religioni and inspired the numerous scholars who have worked on
the volume.
The diverse backgrounds of the authors, who represent various areas
of the human and social sciences, are reflected in the interdisciplinary
approach of the volume.
The result is a book with numerous tables and maps, and a new and
original slant that examines and analyses Buddhism, Christianity,
Ancient Egypt, and Islam, providing the reader with a reliable,
practical guide to the world’s religions.
