The publication

The ‘New Europe’ is a work specifically devoted to the Europe of today, with a special indepth look at the issues concerning the European Union. It is set out in two sections: the first offers an analysis of all the different facets (birth and development of the integra-tion process up to the present day), covering the institutional and legal, the economic and monetary as well as the cultural aspects of the European Union. Three additional pieces, one on the key figures who ‘created’ Europe, a Glossary of the European Union and a Chronological Table of European integration complete this first section. The second sec-tion records the current day state of affairs in the individual countries of Europe, identify-ing the issues and the problems that characterize each situation different reality as well as the national ‘identity’ of the different member states, plus special emphasis on relations with the European Union. This section opens with short essays entitled ‘Europe as seen from…(Africa, Latin America, Japan. Islam and the United States of America) while a collection of files developing topics that cut across national boundaries and are relevant to a range of contexts brings this section to a close’. Some biographical notes about the coordinators and the authors of the various sec-tions complete the volume alongside a comprensive index which makes it easy to take specifics topics.
