Publication

The publication is part of the three-volume series concerning the major pathologies facing surgeons working in emergency situations - Emergenze toraciche, Emergenze addominali, Emergenze vascolari.
The practical and multi-disciplinary nature of the volume sets out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for the principal cases of emergency. Medical diagnosis and treatment are also dealt with if these are considered supportive of surgical intervention.
“Emergenze addominali” treats all the causes of and eventualities in acute problems of the abdomen, from examples such as peritonitis or intestinal blockages to acute pseudo-abdomen, inflammatory illnesses or ventral hernia. Ample space is dedicated to the problems of diagnosis (instrumental, laparoscopic), anaesthetics and intensive care, as well as complications and further surgery. A specific chapter deals with the multiple eventualities which can occur in children.
The Appendix presents flow charts referring to the principal subjects contained in the volume, making rapid consultation easier.
