THE ATLAS OF SURGICAL TECHNIQUE
(Grande atlante di tecnica chirurgica) Directed by K. Kremer

Volumes 1 – 7: General Surgery (Chirurgia generale)

The Grande Atlante di Tecnica Chirurgica is based on an international view of surgery, and represents a work of absolute quality for specialist surgeons and those specialising in surgery.

The Atlante accurately reproduces routine surgical practice, and as an easy-to-consult instrument, provides the professional with guidance to surgical techniques in the treatment of the pathologies most commonly encountered. The close co-operation between the anatomist, the surgeon and the artist has enabled an exceptionally high level to be achieved in the quality of the graphics which illustrate the most up-to-date surgical procedures, and clarify even the most complex passages with detailed sequential images.

Of particular importance is the interaction between function and structure which proves to be fundamental to the surgeon from a topographical point of view. For this reason, each chapter contains detailed explanations concerning the part of the body under examination (anatomical and topographical characteristics, vascularization, innervation, anatomical variants, relationship to other organs).

Space has also been dedicated to alternative techniques and new operations on the same area, as well as indications concerning the prevention and treatment of complications, postoperative therapies, anaesthetics, access and the position of the patient during the operation.

The clarity of the illustrations allow the reader to consult the publication rapidly, whilst precise comments on the text clarify each problem directly. Furthermore, some useful technical details given by the authors confirm their considerable experience, making the publication extremely didactic.

Volumes 8 – 11: Orthopaedic and Traumatology Surgery (Chirurgia ortopedico-traumatologica)

The 4 volumes on orthopaedic and traumatology surgery are structured and have the same objectives as the volumes regarding general surgery.

The illustrations of special surgical approaches and operation techniques concerning individual anatomical sections, the step-by-step instructions and descriptions of the various procedures are all the result of close co-operation between artists, anatomists and surgeons.

The anatomical structures under consideration are analysed in detail, with their topographical correlations, whilst the illustrations are supported by concise and strict explanations.

The publication is aimed at specialist surgeons and students specialising in orthopaedic and traumatology surgery, especially those engaged in hospital wards, or general surgeons involved in treating the most common injuries to the organs of movement.
