MEDICINE
(La medicina)

La Medicina is the result of the experience and commitment of hundreds of scholars, clinicians, and hospital doctors. It represents a wide-ranging work, carefully and scrupulously constructed to meet the many needs of doctors working in both internal and general medicine, which covers basic notions as well as practical and operational aspects.

The three titles at the centre of the series are closely linked, structured in 9 volumes, updated to include the most recent research and practical methods, and articulated on various levels to allow for a number of uses in relation to the differing needs of daily professional practice.
It is, then, an exhaustive publication designed for easy and rapid consultation, particularly suitable for today’s need to provide medical knowledge and discovery with a method that is both unifying and capable of analysis and synthesis.

The publication

Volumes 1, 2 and 3 - Internal Medicine. Physiopathology and Clinical Medicine
(Medicina interna. Fisiopatologia e Clinica)

This is an updated and complete single panorama of the different areas which together constitute Internal Medicine.
The text provides the basic notions of physiopathology and the fundamentals of clinical medicine. It has been designed to take into account the demands of medical practice, giving the professional indications to a correct methodological approach to diagnostics and treatment.

Volumes 4, 5 and 6 - Internal Medicine according to problems of diagnosis
(Medicina interna per problemi di diagnostica)

These volumes represent a guide to diagnosis with particular reference to rational differential diagnosis.
They offer rapid and circumstantial consultation, the text being organised on two levels:
- the integral level, allowing the reader to acquire the necessary information concerning the solution of the various problems of diagnosis related to physiopathology;
- the rapid consultation level, made possible by the parts of the text, tables and flow charts highlighted in blue in each chapter, providing a more essential study, compared to the integral level, but which also leads to the solution of problems of diagnosis.

Volumes 7, 8 and 9 - Pharmacological Therapy
(Farmacoterapia)

The final three volumes are the result of the co-operation between pharmacologists and clinicians and constitute a thorough guide to rational pharmacological therapy.
The first volume deals with the various classes of drugs. It describes how they work, their level of toxicity and their side effects. The glossary gives the active principles and trade names of the drugs.
The second and third volumes are dedicated to medical therapy. Each situation is accompanied by a description of the possible pharmacological choices available, their rationale and other alternatives.

The focal point of the publication is linked to other works which concern the routine professional practice:

Methods of Diagnostics in Internal Medicine, by C. Zanussi (Metodologia diagnostica in Medicina interna)

Practical Medical Therapy, by C. Zanussi
(Terapia medica pratica)

A Guide to the Prescription and Interpretation of Laboratory Tests, by G. Pigoli and Others
(Guida alla prescrizione e interpretazione degli esami di laboratorio)

Medical Treatment of Patients of Surgery, by M.F. Lubin
(Trattamento medico del paziente chirurgico)

The entire work will be periodically updated.
